It’s time to uncover the story of Budapest’s hottest club! Back in the 2010s, Ötkert’s founders knew they wanted something truly special and bigger. It all started at 4BRO Bistro, where they first connected and quickly realized Budapest’s nightlife was missing something. Something bold, something revolutionary! And so the plan was hatched: to create the coolest dance spot in the city, Ötkert!
Over the years, with their established connections and a bit of luck, they dove into the big project. In 2010, in the heart of Budapest, a club was born in a historic building where music and dance bring generations together night after night, where everyday worries fade away.
Ötkert began as a summer hangout with trees on the dance floor. But even then, it was clear: “Ötkert’s garden is the dance Mecca. It’s like it was made for this.” However, bad weather was always a hiccup: the open dance floor wasn’t great for rainy days! That’s when the light bulb went off: “Let’s build a cabrio roof!” This unique feature made Ötkert stand out among Budapest clubs; guests could party under the stars in summer and in an indoor space when it’s cooler. Since then, Ötkert welcomes party queens and kings year-round, rain or shine.
Thursday is the new Friday! In May 2016, two friends had a brilliant idea: What if they created a party where it’s not just about mainstream music?! There was a craving for excitement even on weekdays, as Ötkert was then only open on weekends. Thus, One Dance was born, a Thursday night series blending Latin, Reggaeton, RnB, and Hip Hop beats. These hot rhythms offered a party experience unlike any other in Hungarian clubs. Since the first event, One Dance and Ötkert have set attendance records, making it one of the country’s most popular party series!
Like everyone else, Ötkert faced a major shift with the pandemic. But we didn’t let the parties stop! Adapting to regulations, music started at 7 PM and didn’t stop until 11. Ötkert’s parties eased pandemic blues and brought some light to “darker” times.
Moving forward, Ötkert has not only revolutionized music styles over the years but also elevated the VIP experience to new heights! Festival-grade decoration and Bottle Service shows with extra dancers have not only won over Budapest but also the hearts of the whole country. Internationally, our success is evident: stars like Jude Law, Machine Gun Kelly, and the Black Eyed Peas have partied with us, even earning us recognition in the New York Times!
Let’s not forget our star DJs! Without them, our nights wouldn’t be cool. From legends like Jami, who set the mood even in the bistro days, to Elliott, Séf, Superman, Infragandhi, Havlik, Lauer, Sonic, Django, Liszkai Geri, TMX, Nara, Dr. BRS, and Nikita. And those currently shining: Bréda Bia, Imrik, Subpop, Danny Better, Chris Wolf, Chris M., Matt Flareon, HypeMan Ali, Pop, Ziad, and Koralia. We’re proud to have worked with such talented professionals over the years, trusting them week after week with our nights!
