THE BEGINNINGS
Back in May 2016, a wild idea sparked in the minds of two young friends, Dániel Oláh and Szabolcs Veégh. What if they created a party scene where it’s not just about the mainstream songs but where Latin and reggaeton tracks steal the spotlight.
This concept was influenced by Szabi’s year-long escapade in Chile, where he soaked in the local Latin culture. So, it was a no-brainer; he wanted to bring that fire to Budapest!
And thus, One Dance was born – a fusion of Latin, Reggaeton, RnB, and Hip Hop beats. These blazing rhythms served up a party experience like no other, igniting the dance floors of the city’s clubs.
THE ONE DANCE MAGIC
The concept quickly came together: “Let’s have a party where people can feel like it’s summer all year round, where they can shake it under the palm trees and party in beach vibes!”
Over a weekend, the first main catchphrases were born, like “Party on the beach!” and “Come down for a dance!”
Fun Fact: When it came to choosing the name, it took the guys only 5 minutes to find the perfect one. You know Drake’s song “One Dance,” right? – Well, that’s the vibe that got them inspired.
“MI LESZÜNK ITT A TENGER NÉLKÜLI, TENGERPARTI PARTY!” WHICH MEANS “WE’RE THE BEACH PARTY WITHOUT THE BEACH!”
Sure, there were doubts at first: who’d hit the dance floor on Thursdays? But soon enough, it became the new Saturday for young people and students. So on September 15, 2016, they blew up the Ötkert dance floor with a sold-out party.The OD quickly became famous, and since then, every Thursday has seen them spinning the hottest Latin hits.
